Moving From ViHealth Without Losing Your Data

How to get your past nights out of ViHealth as CSV files, import them somewhere else, and keep them safe before you switch phones or apps.

PulseOxTracker Team

You've got months of nights in ViHealth and you want to use another tool. Or you're changing phones and don't want to lose them. Either way, the steps are the same.

Where does your history live?

In two places:

  • On the device. Only the most recent nights. Older ones can be lost once the memory fills up.
  • In ViHealth on your phone. Every night you've synced.

So your older nights exist only in the app. Get them out before you delete the app, reset the phone or switch to a new one.

How do you get the nights out?

Export each night as a CSV file. The CSV is the full recording, not a picture of it. The steps are in how to export CSV from ViHealth.

A few things make it less painful:

  • ViHealth exports one night at a time. Do a batch each evening until you're through them.
  • Don't rename the files. The digits in the file name are the recording's start time, and other tools use them to tell nights apart.
  • Send them to one folder. Cloud storage or email to yourself both work.
  • Keep a backup copy. Those files are your history now.

What won't come across?

  • Your settings inside ViHealth.
  • PDF reports. Other tools can't read a PDF back into data, so export the CSV as well.
  • Any night you didn't sync to the phone before the device overwrote it.

Do you have to stop using ViHealth?

No. Lots of people keep it for the morning sync and use something else for the long view. We compared the options in ViHealth alternatives.

One catch: the device pairs with one thing at a time. If another tool can't find your ring, close ViHealth or turn off Bluetooth on your phone, then try again.

How do you move to PulseOxTracker?

There are two routes, and you can use both.

  • Import the CSV files. Click Import CSV and select as many files as you like. Each one becomes a night in your history. See importing CSV exports.
  • Sync the device directly. In Chrome or Edge, connect over Bluetooth and download the nights still on the device.
Three buttons: Connect via Bluetooth, Download History and Import CSV.

Nights are named from their recording time, and names are unique. If you import a night you already synced, it will clash, so delete the existing one first or skip that file.

Once they're in, your old nights sit on the same trend as new ones. You can tag them with what you remember, like a holiday or a cold.
