Wellue SleepU Tips for a Clean Recording

Practical tips for wearing, charging and syncing a Wellue SleepU so your overnight recordings are complete and comparable.

PulseOxTracker Team

The SleepU is a wrist unit with a soft finger sensor on a short cable. It has more parts than a ring, so there's a bit more to get right. These tips are about getting a full, clean recording each night.

How should you wear it?

  • Wrist strap snug, not tight. If the unit slides around, it tugs the cable.
  • Sensor seated properly. Push your finger in until the sensor sits where Wellue's instructions show. A half-on sensor gives patchy readings.
  • Try another finger. If one finger gives you gaps, switch. The sensor is soft, so it fits fingers a ring won't.
  • Same hand, same finger every night. It keeps your nights comparable.

What about the cable?

The cable is the main complaint.

  • Run it along the back of your hand, not across your palm.
  • Leave a little slack so bending your wrist doesn't pull the sensor off.
  • If you sleep with a hand under the pillow, wear it on the other hand.

How do you avoid a bad night of data?

  • Warm hands. Cold fingers give a weaker signal. Pulse oximeter accuracy explains why.
  • Check for nail polish or false nails. If the sensor sits over your nail, they can interfere with the light. Try a bare finger.
  • Put it on when you're ready to sleep. Reading in bed for an hour adds an hour of awake data to the night.

Still getting holes in the chart? The causes are the same as for the ring: why your O2Ring data has gaps. Got the longer-battery model? See the Checkme O2 Max tips.

When should you charge and sync?

  • Charge it every day. Put it on the charger in the morning so it's ready at night.
  • Sync every morning. The unit only stores a limited number of nights. Check the manual for your model, and don't leave it for a week.

Should you use the vibration?

The SleepU can buzz when your reading drops below a level you set. It's a nudge, not a safety monitor, so don't rely on it to wake you. It also changes the night you're recording. We went through the trade-offs in should you turn on the vibration alert.

The SleepU isn't a sleep study. If you snore loudly, someone has heard you stop breathing or gasp, or you're exhausted during the day, see a doctor.

PulseOxTracker can sync a SleepU over Bluetooth from Chrome or Edge, or import the CSV files you export from ViHealth. Disconnect the device from the phone app first, because it only pairs with one thing at a time.
